If not me, who? If not now, when?
When I watched British actress Emma Watson deliver her speech at the UN in New York at the launch of the He For She campaign it resonated loudly. I was recently at a social event, where, during the evening, I was branded a 'man-hater" by a male guest. A man-hater? Am I a man-hater because I stand up for female independence and freedom of choice, because I have organised mountain expeditions for women and funded female-focused initiatives? Because I am determined for girls to have equal access to the climbing wall and the skatepark? Because I don't tolerate sexist bullying?
I think every single woman on this planet has been a victim of gender inequality, including my 5-year old daughter who is told by her male school friends that soccer is a boy's sport and that girls can't wear blue.
We need it to stop! Now! So I agree with Emma Watson. If not me, who? If not now, when? This is a must see for everyone, especially those of us raising the next generation - let's fight for gender equality.
